MISSION
Our mission is to help individuals develop healthier, more intentional relationships with technology. Unlike abstinence-only approaches that treat technology as something to be avoided or eliminated, this work starts from the premise that digital tools are here to stay — the goal is skillful, intentional use, not withdrawal. By making the hidden behavioral economics behind digital platforms visible and understandable, this community-based project aims to empower people to regain agency over their attention, habits, and well-being. Ultimately, the work seeks to shift technology use from something that controls us to something we consciously control.
Goals
-
Advance a model of skillful, intentional technology use, grounded in boundaries and digital literacy, as a sustainable alternative to abstinence-only approaches that treat technology as something to eliminate rather than manage.
-
Research and translate the behavioral economics built into social media, apps, and other digital platforms into clear, understandable explanations of how digital design shapes attention and decision-making.
-
Create educational content that speaks to every age and stage, from curious kids to teens to adults, helping people build the skills to respond to digital "nudges" with intention rather than either default habit or blanket avoidance.
-
Equip individuals and families with practical, sustainable strategies, small habit changes and environmental tweaks, that make healthier digital habits easier to build and easier to keep.
-
Grow a community hub of tools and resources, and extend this work beyond the website and into everyday life, measuring impact through real engagement and behavior change, not just visits or clicks.
